You will be preparing and serving breakfasts and lunches which includes a selection of special dietary dishes, as well as keeps our counter looking great with a selection of cakes, traybakes and scones.

We are looking for a junior sous chef who is excited, passionate and has enthusiasm to grow with the business. All our food is freshly prepared on site using the highest quality ingredients from local suppliers. As a company we have a keen interest in free from and special dietary menus.

Key duties

* Support and stand shoulder to shoulder with senior chefs whilst also absorbing as much information and skill to become a stronger member of the team.

* Prepare required dishes, following recipes and guidelines, ensuring every dish goes out meeting our high standard

* Work across all sections of the kitchen as directed each day, preparing food for breakfasts, lunches and pastry with training given to work independently as well as part of a team.

* With training and support from senior chefs and management taking charge of the kitchen to cover days off and holidays.

* Pick up and identify any issues that need to be brought to the attention of the executive chef – for example product quality, machinery faults, customer feedback

* Work within strict guidance with regards stock rotation and food labelling, as well as maintaining kitchen hygiene standards and keeping relevant statutory documentation up to date.

* Participate in daily and weekly ordering, ensuring that all knowledge passed on from senior chefs is taken on board and all orders are placed clearly and confidently to avoid any confusion.

Your capabilities

* Good allergen and special dietary knowledge with an interest to bring new ideas to our business

* Ability to deliver on a consistent basis and desire to learn and progress within your role

* Good communicator who is able to follow direction from senior chefs, along with being able to work and use your own initiative as part of team

* Positive and enthusiastic approach to work from the start to the end of each day

* Problem solver with the ability to identify and solve problems as they arise or seek appropriate advice

Requirements

* You must be able to bend, lift and carry items as required and sustain long periods of time on your feet

* Excellent communication skills

* Ability to follow instructions and pass onto chefs between days off

* Smart appearance

Working with

* Reporting to Sous Chef and FOH Manager

* Work within the kitchen team and closely with dish wash and front of house teams
