Nursery Cook
Job Type : Contract, Full Time
Salary :
Passionate about food and nutrition and able to work in a busy environment with time pressures. Candidates will be fully trained and will work under the Nursery Chef/ cook in each nursery but will be expected to be involved in not only assisting in meal production but also in seasonal menu creation and working with practitioners to serve the children and get them engaged with food. The role offers excellent personal development and progression opportunities within our fast-growing group upon completion of a 6-month training program.
Duties and requirements:
* Catering qualification
* Maintain a safe, clean and healthy kitchen environment and prepare and serve nutritious meals to children
* Regulate kitchen stock control
* Ensure that specific dietary requirements are met
* Hold a Food Hygiene Certificate, a current First Aid Certificate and Allergy awareness certificate (provided)
* Be Startwell trained (provided)
* Awareness of food allergies and health and safety issues
* The ability to organise, plan and support the cooking of nutritious meals
* Experience of preparing meals for children under 5 years of age (Desirable)
Skills, experience and qualifications needed:
* Food safety/hygiene qualification or studying towards preferred but not essential.
* Passion for working with and supporting children
