Job Shop Recruitment has an opportunity for a Technical Author to work for a client of ours based in Exeter.
THE ROLE
Working under the Technical Publications Manager, the role will involve art working, editing, proof reading and help in the maintenance of a complete library of technical publications. The role will mainly be that of document management and desk top publishing, to an established house style, developing Technical writing skills and design work. The work will not only cover the instructions for the entire range of products but will include packaging artwork and label creation, setting up of documents and checking the accuracy of the detail before publishing it on the internal system, the internet and out to the public.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Proven competence in the use of Adobe desktop publishing software to include Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop is essential. Basic ability in the use of Microsoft office is also desirable, in particular, Word and Excel.
• Ability to proof read documentation to ensure the quality of the content and work with other departments to ensure the content is factually correct.
• Writing and maintaining the technical instructions to a high standard, across the company in clear, concise English language in line with the existing in-house style in a timely fashion.
• Aid with the creation and translation of the technical instructions to a high standard, across numerous languages.
• Ensure literature compliance with standards and regulations.
• Proven ability in the control of documentation to ensure all changes and modifications are recorded in line with the requirements of the company’s quality management system.
•Ensure knowledge of product, both existing and in development to ensure support to various customer facing departments.
• Aid with ensuring all information is readily available on Public Drives, websites and printing resources for internal and external customers.
• Creation of packaging and label artwork required for all markets.
• Be able to work as part of a team in order to ensure the input from all relevant departments (Technical Customer Services, Service Engineers and Development Staff).
• Some experience with elements of graphic design is desirable.
