Care café coordinator
The Wait ’er while café is a well-established and much-loved community café based in Bullion Hall Community Centre. The café is staffed by adults with learning difficulties who are supported to develop independent living skills, build self-confidence and make long term friendships in this safe and supportive environment.
The café coordinator will work a flexible 18-hour week Monday – Friday 8am- 3.00pm.
It is essential that applicants have experience of working with and empowering adults with learning disabilities alongside a positive can- do attitude able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
* Supervise and support the team of service users, who have medium level support needs (maximum of 4 service users per day). Enable them to develop new skills including preparation of meals, food hygiene, health and safety awareness etc.
* To support the running of this busy community café, which serves meals in-house, provides meals for activities in the building such as weekly luncheon clubs and serves take away meals to our neighbours.
* Support to enable service users to take part in other activities in the centre.
* Working with colleagues to support older people who may be taking part in activities and our various luncheon clubs.
The post holder will ensure that the service users’ health and wellbeing remains at the very heart of the day-to-day operations and longer-term developments.
There will be times when you will be required to work full time to cover for annual leave of a colleague. (At least 5 weeks over the course of the year).
