Time Appointments are pleased to be recruiting on behalf of a company based in Woodridge who are recruiting for a Designer.
This client is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Designer to work with the Managing Editor to create a distinct creative vision. Here you will imprint and maintain the quality control of this vision from concept stage through to finished copies.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain awareness of competitors in the marketplace and be astutely aware of the company’s position within the middle mass market.
* Support design decisions with industry benchmarking and external artistic references.
* Identify new design and illustration trends including areas outside of the book industry and integrate them into commercially successful book design.
* Maintain daily communication with the Managing Editor to ensure timely and cohesive execution and follow-through from manuscript to bound books.
* Build relationships with design and illustration agencies to ensure the company is offered the best work for the best terms.
* Project management and briefing of in-house artworkers, external freelance designers and illustrators.
* Build a network of reliable and talented freelance designers to work on projects during peak periods.
* Create production specifications for new book, books-plus and novelty book formats, including formats that are unique in the marketplace.
Previous Skills & Experience
* Minimum of five years commercial design experience.
* Fantastic typographical and cover design skills and a strong aptitude for the Adobe Creative Suite, and above all a real passion for eye-catching, child-focused design.
* Ability to identify new design and illustration trends and to integrate them into commercially successful design.
* Proven track record of preparing books for supply to printers.
* Creative, passionate and hardworking personality.
* Positive, enthusiastic and eager for success.
* Ability to think quickly and adapt to unforeseen challenges at a moment’s notice.
* Proven ability to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment.
* Vector character art illustration.
