To date the business has operated in 3 core P&L segments: Research, Media Intelligence and Entity Due Diligence and Monitoring.

Trends in the news and business information market are resulting in a change of delivery models, from product solutions to the application of technology to workflows, including Big Data, Analytics, and AI. As part of this, the business has embarked on an ambitious product strategy and has made the decision to combine the Research and Media Intelligence segments under common leadership to better serve customer needs.

The Role

The Segment Transformation Manager role sits within the gNS General Management Team (GMT) which sets the strategic direction of the business, ensuring there is alignment of our strategy, product, sales and marketing functions; bringing together the strategic thinking with best practice go-to-market capabilities.

We see this role as mission critical to the success of gNS and the wider Research and Media Intelligence segments over the next 2+ years. It is required to support the Segment General Manager in setting the medium to long-term strategy of the segments while providing high quality timely analysis and informed recommendations on commercial and go-to-market strategy, as we look to optimise the combination of the Research and Media Intelligence segments under the Segment General Manager.

Summary

Customers, market and competition

• Work across the organisation to conduct customer and market segmentation to understand high priority use cases and capabilities for the Segment suite of products and services to aid prioritisation, targeting and cross-selling

• On-going analysis of the high-level competitive landscape ensuring product, go-to-market and GMT are always informed of any material changes and / or opportunities to improve positioning

• Take ownership and coordination with product and sales leaders of internal competitive intelligence across our products and markets, building a database on what our competitors are doing, what impact this has on gNS and how this can be leveraged to inform pricing and product development decisions

• Identify and evaluate key market trends and risks and share across the organisation

Pricing, packaging and proposition development

• Partner with Pricing to develop new pricing and packaging modules for a combined segment offering

• Work with Segment marketing to deliver gold-standard pitch decks across the product suite and for specific customer segments

• Help to plan what to launch, when and to whom while inputting on the “how” with Sales, Segment Marketers and the Segment General Manager

Investments and reporting

• Modelling of business cases and writing of business plans in conjunction with the General Manager for SLT sign-off

• Produce high quality first drafts of senior management business review decks and annual operating plans, summarising financial position vs target and the activities to accelerate success and mitigate risks and challenges

• Build and own bespoke dashboards and metrics for the Segment General Manager, always understanding the ‘why’ behind the metrics

• Identify longer-term investment and product development opportunities / priorities for gNS

• Support the Segment General Manager, wider GMT and Group Strategy in M&A, divestments and partnerships

• Bring proactive engagement to the GMT, ensuring knowledge transfer within the team and best practice sharing across the wider gNS business

Qualifications

• Strong academic background with a degree from a high performing University preferred.

• At least 2 years of experience in consulting or a highly commercial corporate environment

• Advanced Excel & PowerPoint is mandatory

• Some exposure to pricing and pricing mechanics is preferred although not essential

• Familiarity with B2B information industry, software, or SaaS is preferred although not essential
