We are recruiting for a skilled Sample Machinists! Based within Head Office, you will be part of the sample team producing high quality lingerie/swimwear/athleisurewear.
You will be using a wide variety of industrial sewing machines to make up complete or partial sample garments to expected levels of quality, and working with various fabrics and trimmings.
Sample Machinist – The Job Opportunity
* To work with technical graders and designers to ensure the sample make up process highlights any issues that may affect the product fit or the commercial production of the garment, with the ability to work from a written method of make and amend accordingly.
* Responsible for maintaining, rethreading and adjusting as required any machinery used in the sample production process in order to produce samples to the required specification.
* To raise all garment construction issues or problems to the Sample Room Coordinator and/or with the relevant designer, technologist or grader, and offering suggestions to hep resolve, develop or establish best method.
* From patterns and other given information, to cut out and provide the material pieces needed by the sample room for the production of samples.
* To monitor and maintain the sample material stock and to advise when re-order is necessary.
Sample Machinist – The Person Specification
* 2years +experience as a machinist using industrial machines (flat-lock, over seam, over-lock). Previous long seam experience is highly desirable.
* Previous lingerie/swim, bridal or intimates related experience preferred.
* Good understanding of sample room processes and garment construction.
* Additional skills in sample cutting are highly desirable.
* Ability to prioritise and effectively manage own workload and deliver to deadline.
* Confident communicator (written and verbal), to communicate clearly and concisely
* Ability to listen/explain technical product information and address concerns & overcome objections
* Contribute to the development of new ideas and initiatives.
* Attentive and accurate to detail.
* Flexible to change and to support others
