Salary : £50000 – £60000/annum

My client is an established design and manufacturer of bespoke hydraulic products and systems selling into various markets including Nuclear, Oil & Gas, offshore and industrial. Due to their 40 years within the fluid power sector, they can provide first class products based on clients’ niche needs. Due to exciting changes within the company, they are now looking for a Design Manager to run their office. Overseeing the Hydraulic design team, providing technical support and guidance, governance and impart your knowledge to engineers.

Salary – £50,000 – £60,000 (DOE)

25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays, pension, healthcare scheme, company car and paid sick leave.

Mon – Fri – 37.5 hours per week.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Engineering lead.
Liaising and supporting sales / production departments when required.
Management of Hydraulic/mechanical/electro-hydraulic design projects.
Work closely with client and project teams. Understanding the projects.
Allocating workload to team members to ensure projects are complete in time, within budget and to a high quality.
Checking and approving drawings, documentation, and design calculations of other engineers/team members.
Ensuring quality and delivery of project/design documentation throughout the process including – risk assessments, method statements, technical files to ensure they comply to design standards, safety legislations and the client’s needs.
Development of designs to satisfy technical specifications.
Document key design decisions, undertaking analysis and system testing or products to verify performance levels and ensure clients needs have been met.
Maintain and implement design tools (CAD) to ensure they meet the departments needs.
To apply you MUST have or hold:

3D CAD experience. AutoCAD and Inventor 3D experience is an advantage but not essential.
Experience and knowledge of hydraulics and engineering is advantageous.
Experience in design and detailing of hydraulic power packs, hydraulic cylinders, control manifolds and valves.
Must be able to complete calculations.
Degree in Engineering or Good levels of experience within engineering/mechanical.
Knowledge of fluid power circuits, components and calculations are required.
Good mechanical engineering experience in including material knowledge.
A good understanding of the principles of Design for Manufacturing.
An understanding of fabrication, machine processes and standards.
Good eye for detail.
Strong communication skills both verbally and written.
Good Personal Skills – Able to work in a team and alone.
