Founded in 1963 by the world-renowned violinist and educator Yehudi Menuhin, the School provides a place for musically gifted children from around the world to develop their talents to the highest level within a stimulating academic environment. It was accorded the status of Centre for Excellence in the Performing Arts in 1973 and has a global reputation as one of the world’s leading music schools.

We are looking for an experienced Sous Chef to ensure that the kitchen delivers and maintains a first class, freshly prepared and nutritionally compliant menu. The successful candidate will work with the Head Chef to develop menus and maintain high levels of compliance and will deputise for the Head Chef in their absence.

Key tasks and responsibilities will include:

Ensuring timely delivery of all school meal services on shift
Working with the Head Chef to deliver internal and commercial events
Supervise the delivery and rotation of stock
Budget management
Developing nutritious menus within budget constraints that appeal to the student body
Promoting a focused and hard-working culture in the kitchen, ensuring that each team member on your shift is motivated and directed to deliver a best-in-class product
Staff training and development
Equipment cleaning and maintenance
Preparing a theme day menu each month, which reflects school life or calendar events
Management of student birthday requirements
Any other reasonable duties as required by the Head Chef

We are looking for a Sous Chef with:

A minimum of two-years’ experience as Chef De Partie in a larger kitchen
NVQ Level 3, or City & Guilds equivalent, or recognised qualifications
Proven culinary skills, this role will involve a trade test
Excellent communication skills and someone who really enjoys a busy kitchen environment
Able to work flexible hours: the role is Monday to Friday however it can include weekends; particularly during holiday periods
