Team Leader Gardener
Job Type : Permanent, Full Time
Salary : £26000 – £27000/annum
We are currently recruiting for Team Leader Gardener around Radlett
Main purpose of job To lead a team of Gardeners and support grounds maintenance contract delivery, specifically to liaise with Client, Residents and Friends Groups in respect of minor regeneration projects additional work streams, and adhoc nuisance rectification works.
Oversee the team, plan, organise and design minor re generation works and planting schemes for designated sites.
Provide leadership to work streams, project works and staff resources.
Principal Accountabilities Contract performance & delivery
Carry out a range of horticultural maintenance activities, in accordance with best horticultural practices.
Ensure that designated sites are designed, prepared and maintained to an exceptional standard of horticulture, cleanliness and overall appearance.
Develop quotes and estimates for additional works and minor projects.
Attend liaison meetings with client, residents associations, residents and friends groups.
Ensure all paperwork relevant to your role is fully completed and submitted in-line with company procedure
Deal with the public in a courteous and efficient manner, answering questions relating to the parks/green spaces, noting and reporting any complaints to your supervisor
Relationships
To be approachable and responsive to the needs of your supervisor and client officers
Act as a focal point for liaison with client, residents associations, residents and friends groups for additional works outside the scope of client core grounds maintenance contract
To understand the benefits of the Company’s Complaints and Customer Contact procedures
General
Champion additional work streams and regeneration projects.
Provide leadership and guidance to staff in a range of horticultural tasks and activities.
Work as part of the teams to lift spent plants; apply soil improvers, topdressing and mulches as directed.
Assist with the preparation of planting schemes and schedules for team members.
Carry out planting activities in accordance with plans, set out plants and manage periodic watering.
Remove weeds, deadhead flowering plants, water planted areas, stake and tie plants. Prune shrubs and remove basal suckers and low growth from trees.
Undertake activities that will ensure a clean and safe environment for park users.
Apply pesticides to control weeds, fungi, plant diseases, insects and other pests.
Undertake hard and soft landscaping under the direction of your supervisor.
Provide practical support for horticultural and ecological based community events and activities. Participate in the delivery of shrub and bulb planting schemes and clean-up days.

An experienced Groundsman with a proactive approach towards your work
Full Driving Licence
Self motivated and leadership, able to lead work groups and work streams.
Good organisational skills.
Financial awareness towards company property, equipment issued and waste.
Experience / Desired Qualification
Formal horticultural qualification e.g. National Certificate in Horticulture, National Diploma, NVQ Level (amenity horticulture) or RHS
PA1 and PA6 Pesticide Licence.
