Who are we looking for?
Our Education Centre in Leeds is looking to appoint a Catering Tutor to deliver hospitality and Catering Skills to learners aged 16-19 years.
We are especially keen to hear from candidates from the hospitality industry. This position can be a rewarding career path for you wherein, you can utilise your practical skills alongside becoming an aspiring educator.
What will I be doing as a Hospitality & Catering Tutor?
The main purpose of the role is to ensure that our learners achieve the appropriate hospitality/catering knowledge and experience, alongside developing their employability, personal and social skills.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
Develop appropriate learning resources, facilities, and environment to support high quality teaching and learning, preparing learners for the world of work/further study.
Evaluate and assess the work of learners in relation to the curriculum criteria and provide timely constructive and helpful learner feedback so that learners develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours to progress to their next steps.
Work with English and maths teachers to better enhance English and maths in your vocational lesson planning and delivery and reflect the importance of these subjects in your vocational area.
Identify and support work placements for learners in industry specialism using guidance, and ensure learning is recorded and reflected in work-placement journals and ILPs (individual learning plan).
Requirements for this role:
Industry experience in catering and hospitality is essential.
L2 English & Maths is essential.
A Teaching qualification, CET/PTTLS OR DET equivalent or above is preferred. However, support will be given to those willing to work towards a teaching qualification.
An Enhanced with Barred Lists DBS check is essential.
