Assistant Financial Accountant
Job Type : Permanent, Full Time
Salary : £27500 – £30000/annum Plus benefits package
Purpose of the Role:
This individual will assist in the day-to-day function of the Financial Accounting team ensuring that all Financial Reporting requirements are met. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for their first exposure to Financial Accounting and Reporting where they will be able to develop their accounting and finance skills and gain experience in the statutory accounts field.
Key Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required:
Part qualified with several years relevant experience
Experience with Navision/BC and Coda is desirable
Competent Microsoft Excel skills
Attention to detail
Ability to work well in a team but also individually and pro-actively
Good organisational skills and ability to manage their time well
Ability to work to specific timescales
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of the Annual Statutory Accounts/Financial Statements (using IBM Cognos Powerplay (short term), IRIS Accounts Production Software and Microsoft Word) to meet (mostly) end of June filing deadlines with Companies House
iXBRL tagging (in IRIS) to accompany the tax team’s Corporation tax returns
Responding to audit requests
Support the year end audit process
Preparing and posting of intercompany loan interest and goodwill movements
Maintaining intercompany reconciliations
Ensuring correct accounting for pension scheme costs
Additional postings at quarter end and year end (e.g. consolidation entries)
Extracting Trial Balances using JET reports
Preparing balance sheet reconciliations
To assist the Financial Reporting Manager and the wider team with any ad hoc duties e.g. ONS surveys and other external reporting
