Company: A leading flexible packaging manufacture.
Role: Our client is looking to appoint a Product Manager for their Packaging business. You will be responsible for the Packaging Film portfolio plus the development of new films into the Packaging arena. Driving sustainability strategies will inevitably form a key part of the role.
The successful candidate will be part of the broader European Sales and Marketing Team but will act as an important link between Sales, R&D and Production. Interaction with customers and internal Sales Team to facilitate future sales, particularly of new products will be central to the role.
* To manage the Packaging product range produced on the European assets
* Co-ordination of the New Product Development portfolio
* Rationalisation of existing products in order to meet strategic profitable growth targets and management of raw material changes
* Maintain product supply and specifications that remain fit for purpose and profitable
* Work with the Business Development manager, Business manager and Sales to identify and prioritise new profitable product development ideas
* Manage the profitability of each product family throughout its life cycle taking into consideration raw material changes and establish market price guidelines in conjunction with the Pricing Manager
* To review and develop the most effective business model for each product family based on 5Ps (product specification, price, place, promotion, people)
* Support and train the regional Sales Teams and accompany them on customer visits and call
* To review and update product specifications in line with evolving market requirements or forced changes in close cooperation with the Quality and Production Teams
* To facilitate raw material changes and introduction of new products to customers working closely with Sales and Applications Development
* To work with the Communications manager and Business Development Manager in the promotion of new products, markets or activities
* Work closely with R&D, Production and Supply Chain to ensure products can be produced efficiently and on time
* Support implementation of strategic initiatives
* Working closely with all areas of the business is essential. Good contact with customers, suppliers, co-suppliers and other external organisations as required
* Support for R&D, Production and Business Teams
* Monthly report of activity and progress together with defined KPIs
Requirements:
* You will be a dynamic, self-motivated individual with a scientific or engineering background or environmental background
* Minimum of 5 years experience in the film/ packaging industry in a technical or production role
* Experience within the film industry
* Experience within product development / NPD and a technical background – highly preferred
* Experience customer / supplier facing
* Confident delivering presentations / launching new products
* Commercially aware
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Team player
* Willingness and ability to travel
* Enthusiastic and positive, displaying a drive and commitment to succeed and able to build strong working relationships both inside and outside the organisation
