We have a great opportunity to join our education team as a Teacher – Music Technology Facilitator – for Novus, our prison education provider at HMYOI Wetherby. This position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis working 37 hrs per week over 4.5 days. As a Music Technology Facilitator/Teacher you will be responsible for teaching, developing, and delivering high quality, learner focused education. This is an exciting opportunity to work with the prison to develop the young people's passion for their Music. Many of the young people have an interest in Music, in particular writing their own lyrics, rapping, recording, and producing new beats with our audio mixing software. Some may have interests in DJing, learning to play instruments, or singing.
The groups here at HMYOI Wetherby are small with no more than 8 young people.
What we need from you
In order to be successful in the role of Music Technology Facilitator, you will need:
Be willing to work towards or already have a teaching qualification or subject specialist qualification at Level 4 (Level 5 – new standards) with a commitment to obtain the relevant outstanding Level 4 (Level 5 – new standards) qualification within a specified time scale
Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
Gain/hold and maintain a clean, enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
Track record of effective teaching in delivering in subject specialism
Fulfil delivery targets and plans
Achievement of quality targets, including those related to recruitment, retention and achievement
Accurate and timely reports
Positive contribution to establishment planning & development processes
To have a track record of working effectively with people presenting with challenging behaviour
Positive team working
