Our client is a custom designer and manufacturer of injection and blow moulded plastic packaging for a prestigious blue chip customer base. The company's strategy is to focus on brand owners and OEMs who will benefit from and value an innovative, design-led approach.
They are seeking to appoint a Technical Project Manager to create new and exciting commercial and manufacturing New Product Developments in line with customer requirements. Through technical input into product design and identifying improvement opportunities. To play a key role in the implementation of NPD working in conjunction with Design, Technical and Tooling departments.
Core Responsibilities:
Ensure new concepts can be manufactured cost effectively with minimal life-time cost through 3D designs / concepts / models, design presentations and Engineering drawings.
Support the Sales and Commercial Team in technical discussions with customers.
Prepare technical specifications for both Tool Design and Production.
Ensure all critical performance characteristics have been identified and agreed with the customer prior to a project start up.
Carefully monitor and control external tool making costs.
Ensure that mould designs meet their standard requirements and specification.
Audit and validate potential new tool making suppliers.
Validate and sign GA drawings in conjunction with the broader technical team
Carry out full validation on new and modified tooling and implement into production ensuring all necessary staff are adequately trained.
Prepare and manage a detailed project plan for each new project with a customer agreed timeline and to communicate project status at each monthly NPD meeting.
Co-ordinate line trials and ensure all samples are validated prior to sending to the customer.Key Skills & Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Project Manager.
Experience in injection moulding technology is essential.
Technical or operational background, with experience in packaging products.
Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
Clear understanding of commercialisation processes.
Continuous improvement techniques and Project Management (Prince2 or equivalent).
Experience in Technical and specifications/design process.
Commercially astute
