Working for a substantial private fine art and sculpture collector who has a considerable and highly impressive collection dating back to the 1970s to date.
THE ROLE:
Working in the role of Conservator for a private collector overseeing an exceptional collection of art, fine art and an extensive collection of indoor and outdoor sculptures.
The role will involve management of the entire collection, dealing with new pieces, overall care and display, take responsibility for collection documentation and management, identification of any flaws and being able to deal with correction and cleaning, correct storage and when required dealing with exhibitions or moving of pieces. The role will involve all documentation, management, and administration relevant to the collections.
THE CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role. Experience of either working in a museum environment, art gallery, or for a previous substantial private art collector.
It is essential you will have proven relevant experience, a broad understanding of international art, can demonstrate experience of working under museum conditions or notable art gallery with excellent research and writing skills, meticulous attention to detail, excellent contacts and connections in the art world, outstanding organisational and administrative skills and able to use your initiative to ensure tasks and projects are completed to a high standard.
Experience from dealing with art pieces from their initial arrival, storage, cleaning, detection of flaws/decay from woodworm/pests etc, protection and maintenance to arranging correct conditions for pieces to be moved/travelling conditions is essential
Masters or Diploma in museum studies or gallery studies (art)
