The world's leading manufacturer of electrical enclosures are looking for a Head of Design to join their highly skilled and dedicated team. With dedicated, highly motivated and skilled staff, the company has achieved market dominance through a commitment to providing its customers with excellence in every respect.
Due to high levels of demand from existing customers and the opportunities for further business development, we are currently looking for a Head of Design to join their busy design team.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to join a highly skilled team in a varied and technical role, and will suit candidates from any design background who are confident managing engineering teams and dealing directly with customers.
Duties include:
* Leading the mechanical engineering team in developing customer solutions and supporting growth within our global customer accounts
* Managing the day to day activities within the design department
* Hands on in designing products will also be key part of the role
* Development of effective working relationships with Rittal customers who are household names in the IT and Social Media networks
* The use of design tools such as DFMEA and Six Sigma tolerance analysis would be an advantage
* Leading internal and external design reviews
Skills/Experience Required:
* Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering degree or equivalent experience
* Engineering and design principles and techniques
* Use of 3D Design Software
* Experience working with external customers and carrying out design review
* Experience of leading and directing a team of engineers – desirable but not essential
* Using Creo 3 and / or Inventor CAD for 3D modelling and drawing to standards
* The use of design tools such as DFMEA and Six Sigma tolerance analysist to Automotive standards
* Incorporating design for Manufacture and Assembly into Engineering Design
* Working in a Design Office within a Sheet Metal manufacturing environment
