ATA Recruitment are working with a leading global specialist design and manufacturer of electronic connectors and related equipment for the Electrical, Power, Industrial, Rail and Travel industries.

As part of an aggressive expansion plan our client who are currently turning over £25 million have extensively restructured the business to help them to achieve a £50 million turnover target in the coming years. They have already invested £2.5 million into upgrading and advancing their automation systems to help with the increase in customer demands.

As a result, they are currently looking to add a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their energetic team in the Midlands, this fantastic opportunity will allow the successful candidate to work with industry experts, hone their skills and grow whilst working on dynamic projects.

The Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be involved in the design process from cradle to grave, working as an individual and as part of team you will be able to contribute to the success of a variety of projects. 

The Mechanical Design Engineer’s key responsibilities will be:

To design and develop products and tooling
To implement improvements to manufacturing and assembly processes
To produce detailed sketch drawings, of design concepts 
To undertake CAD model creation, prototyping and product testing
To design bespoke tooling and fixtures
To problem solves issues with existing designs and equipment to aid production 
The Candidate:

The ideal Mechanical Design Engineer would have:

CAD experience in 2D and 3D
Mechanical Engineering Qualification
Experience in tooling or jig and fixture design
Knowledge of metal manufacturing processes
A ‘’can do’’ and ‘’hands on’’ attitude
A team player mentality
