Salary : £30000 – £40000/annum Up to £40K DOE

Experienced Product Design Engineer required to work for manufacturing company based on the outskirts of Plymouth. The successful candidate will be responsible for the Design of new products and POS projects for a core brand. Working in a small but dedicated Design team you will be working on our NPD cycle and POS projects for our clients. This is a hands-on role where prototyping and assisting the planning and production process is required.
Working with Wood, Plastics, metals and some electronics you will be involved in creating bespoke POS (point of sale) solutions for our client. You will also be contributing to the development of standard products sold through our group of e-commerce websites.

Key Responsibilities:
* To design new POS solutions for our varied clients, from brief.
* Create technical drawings for POS projects and other product offerings.
* Create BOM’s and log the information in our MRP.
* Create material specifications for each job/project.
* Liaising with production and planning to assist in prototyping.
* Working closely with the Production Team to make sure projects are finished to a high-quality adhering to the design spec in a cost-effective manner.
* Working with purchasing to find sourcing solutions for the project-specific parts/materials.
* Bring concepts to fruition, developing them in Solidworks for prototype and manufacture.
* Produce 3D CAD models and detailed drawings for manufacturing with BOM breakdowns.
* Prototyping and testing new concepts.
* Liaise with suppliers, staying up to date with advances in materials and technology.
Essential Experience, Skills and Candidate Attributes Required:
* A minimum of two years working in the retail Point of Sale industry or design and manufacturing.
* Proficient in Solidworks, 3D modelling (or similar CAD packages) and 2D technical drawing.
* Proficient in producing technical drawings for in-house manufacture or outsourcing.
* Strong knowledge of a variety of materials and manufacturing processes.
* The ability to manage multiple projects in unison.
* A problem solving mind-set.
* Experience of monitoring project margins in comparison to estimates.
Beneficial Experience and Knowledge:
* Knowledge of a variety of materials and manufacturing processes.
* Experience in Acrylic fabrication, metal work and / or joinery.
* MRP experience.
