We have a diverse array of projects ranging from £100k to £40M in both clean and wastewater treatment and infrastructure and also in dams and reservoirs. We are looking to recruit a geotechnical engineer/engineering geologist to join our Severn Trent Water (STW) team within the design and build joint venture MMB. This position will bolster the team's internal technical capabilities. You will be responsible for delivering geotechnical support primarily on the STW Design & Build framework and will be responsible for geotechnical inputs across a wide range of both clean and wastewater projects. This will include extensive liaison with internal and external clients and stakeholders.
You will be supported by an existing Geotechnical team distributed across multiple national MMB framework contracts with some of the UK's largest water companies. On occasion it may be necessary to support other Framework teams across the wider MMBC business unit and as such may on occasion be required to travel out of area. Further to this you will part of the wider Mott MacDonald global Geotechnical Practice hosting a wide variety of technical experience and knowledge.
The role is nominally based in our Severn Trent Water Framework office in Shifnal, with projects distributed throughout Severn Trent Waters operational area. Flexible and agile working means that the right balance between office, home and site working can be agreed on a case-by-case basis.

Role and Responsibilities
1.
Undertaking desk studies, design of ground investigations, compilation of ground investigation tender documentation and contract administration.
2.
Technical supervision of ground investigation fieldworks and liaison with ground investigation contractors.
3.
Interpretation and verification of ground investigation data including presentation of appropriate ground model, development of geotechnical design parameters and clear presentation of ground risks.
4.
Production of ground investigation reports and geotechnical design reports in accordance with EC7.
5.
Liaison with wider non specialist project team members (design and construction) to develop best-value engineering designs and clearly communicate identified project ground risks and suitable mitigation.
6.
Undertake various geotechnical analyses and design, produce calculation packages, input to particular works specifications and drawings for construction.
7.
Production of qualitative and quantitative geo-environmental risk assessments (desirable)
