Mech Tech Professionals is recruiting a Design Engineer for our ambitious and fast growing manufacturer of heavy industrial equipment. Our client has recently joint ventured with a highly successful European engineering group. Due to continued business, our client is looking for an experienced Design Engineer to undertake mechanical calculations and drawings of heavy engineering structural components, pressure vessels, tanks and heat exchangers.
The Design Engineer will form part of the company’s engineering team and will be working on tasks ranging in value and size from a few thousand pounds up to a million pounds.
Key responsibilities of the role will be to ensure that the customers’ design requirements and regulatory codes are correctly interpreted and create perfect engineering designs that would be sent to the client for review, then issued to the shop floor for manufacture.
The day-to-day tasks would include:
* Prepare crucial documentation such as manufacturing drawings in 2D using software such as AutoCAD.
* Use a combination of specialist pressure vessel design software (such as Finglow) and manual calculation sheets to produce mechanical calculations.
* Prepare Bill of Materials to hand over to the engineering team for purchasing.
* Coordinate and liaise with the engineering team and clients with regards to design information and design reviews.
To be considered for this role, candidates must have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
* Minimum of 5 years design engineering experience.
* Knowledge of designing Process Equipment / Pressure Vessels / Heat Exchangers (highly advantageous)
* Experience using pressure vessel design software, preferably Finglow (or other software such as PV Elite) (highly advantageous)
* AutoCAD experience in 2D (essential)
* Designing in 3D (preferable)
* Experience working with designing to ASME/PD5500/EN13445 pressure vessel codes (highly advantageous)
* Experience using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) as a design method (preferred) .
* Experience of working within the nuclear or defence industries
This is a full time, permanent, office based role, with the opportunity to work remotely but would need to attend the office at least once a week.
