An award winning, luxury interior designer is recruiting a Head of Design, to join their head office in the West Midlands. This interior designer creates elegant and luxurious interiors for well known high end residential developers and was recently awarded an International Property Award 022 for the Best Office Interior. They take huge pride on making visions reality and work closely with their clients to design and deliver the best possible show homes in the world.
The successful Head of Design will be integral in the day-to-day running of the business, leading the design studio and working in collaboration with all departments to ensure the delivery of a market leading design across some of the UKs leading locations and developments.
Head of Design responsibilities
Serve as the primary leader for the design team and oversee the design process from concept to completion
Responsible for establishing department goals and review objectives that support the strategic plan
Supply chain management, monitoring and refreshing suppliers.
Support the design team in producing high quality Interior design projects, seeing projects from concept and brief stage through to installation
Manage the development of each individual designer through quarterly appraisals.
Implement consistency of the business culture and values
Collaborate with marketing manager and lead creative to educate and maintain a cohesive brand across all creative and digital platforms
Alongside management duties, responsible for taking on own commercial design projects, seeing these through from conception to completion
Producing high quality Interior design projects, seeing projects from concept and brief stage through to installation
Able to explore creatively through concept, ensuring that all areas of a brief are covered
Able to communicate design proposals to sales team to ensure that all clients’ needs are met for presentation
Producing full detailed design package, including design boards and detailed drawings to form a tender package
Producing FF&E material, furniture and lighting proposals, recording specification on our internal schedule
Thorough knowledge of space planning & lighting design principles
Preparation of mood board, design presentation boards
Involvement in the understanding of client’s budgets and breakdown
Able to work to a set budget and understand design restraints for all levels of budgeting
Key attributes
Creative background with showhome experience
BA (Hons) Interior Architecture/Interior Design high qualification (or equivalent) preferred
3+ years Interior Design experience
Must have a proven portfolio of Design portfolio
Managerial/Team leader experience preferred but not essential
Adobe creative suite experience – Essential for role
Microsoft Office experience – Essential for role
A creative and technical skillset
You will require a good understanding of current trends in the interior design industry
Must have a comprehensive understanding of different materials and their suitability for different application
A fantastic eye for design, with strict attention to detail and be an enthusiastic team player
Ability to produce and read detailed technical drawings
Excellent presentation, conceptual and visualising skills
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment to tight deadlines
Fluent in written and spoken English
Strong and confident communication skills
