Based, Norwich, Norfolk
Working in the Development Department, the Design Draughtsperson will use Windows-based CAD software applications to produce mechanical drawings and printed circuit board artworks for electronic and electromechanical products.
Job Activities
1. Design, prototype and test mechanical systems that form part of educational training products.
2. Use CAD software to produce mechanical part models, assembly diagrams and production drawings.
3. Follow electronic circuit diagrams designed by electronic engineers to produce PCB artworks using CAD software.
4. Create and maintain product BOM structures held on our computerised stock control database.
5. Create and maintain production drawings, product labels and other documentation used by our Production and Test departments.
6. Create and maintain other controlled documents within the drawing office and company QMS.
7. Provide support to other team members in Development, Production and Purchasing departments.
8. General day-to-day administration duties, including record keeping, housekeeping disciplines and archiving activities within the Drawing Office.
Responsibilities
1. Have the ability to use applications to fulfil the requirements of the job activities. The applications include: Pulsonix, Proteus & Protel PCB CAD packages; Solidworks CAD package; Adobe Photoshop; Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint; and Adobe Acrobat.
2. Managing your own workload under the supervision of the Product Director, and with the support of other members of the Development Team.
3. Ensuring that the tasks undertaken are completed accurately, in a timely manner and to specification.
4. Ensuring that all duties are carried out in accordance with Health and Safety regulations as detailed in the Company Rulebook.
Person Description
The person carrying out this role must:
1. Have previous experience in using CAD packages to create mechanical drawings and PCB artworks.
2. Have experience in using a variety of other Windows-based software packages, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Familiarity with a graphics package such as Photoshop or equivalent would be an advantage.
3. Be willing to learn to use other software packages, including our computerised stock control system.
4. Have a high standard of literacy and numeracy.
5. Be able to work accurately, with attention to detail, and in a tidy, organised manner to meet deadlines, sometimes under pressure, while maintaining set standards.
6. Have good interpersonal skills, and be able to work independently or as part of a team.
7. Have ability to follow formal procedures and work within a structured QMS.
