ATA Recruitment are working with a global, technical leader in the prestige and ultra-high performance tyre industry. As a leading brand name in the automotive sector our client specialises in detailed engineering of pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical power transmission systems.
With 19 production plants in 12 countries and a commercial presence in over 160 they employ over 30,000 staff with an annual turnover of over 6 billion euros worldwide. With 2 sites in the UK our client is looking to add a Mechanical Projects Engineer to their dynamic team based in Derbyshire where they specialise in fusing hi tech material for the manufacturing of their performance tyres.
Working with industry experts on capex projects worth over 1.5 million this is a great opportunity for the right Mechanical Projects Engineer to join a prestigious and well rooted company.
The projects are varied in scale and challenges so a strong mechanical background will be advantageous, they can range from replacing existing machinery to carrying out new projects in line with existing business operations, you will be dealing with suppliers, internal departments and liaising with the head office based in Italy for approval on quotes. This role will offer you the opportunity to develop your skills and add to your project experience.
The Role
As a Mechanical Projects Engineer you will be responsible for working within Capex budgets, preparing technical proposals, and discussing technical specifications with internal stakeholders. You are to provide efficient delivery of highly technological focused projects and improvement programmes.
Some of the duties that the Mechanical Projects Engineer will have to carry out are:
Undertake budget responsibilities up 1.5 million pounds, this will be signed off by finance.
Prepare technical proposals.
Assist with commissioning where required, applying your engineering ability and knowledge.
Liaise directly with the short-list of suppliers, obtain the best quotes, and get approval from head office.
Develop preliminary technical drawings using Solid Works and Auto CAD, check designs and schematics for feasibility on projects.
Manage contractors for installation of new machinery, utilities, and modifications to existing equipment.

To be successful in your application for the Mechanical Projects Engineer role you will need:
CAD software experience.
Mechanical engineering qualification.
Successful project experience.
Excellent communication skills.
Strong mechanical background.
