Randstad are recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer for a client based in Central Bristol. They are a rapidly growing company that specialises in manufacturing high pressure valves for a variety of industries.

The successful candidate will take ownership of their work, be proactive in proposing and delivering appropriate solutions and demonstrate an ability to manage their workload effectively.

You will work across a range of projects and products including, but not limited to, pumps, valves, active suspension systems, compact integrated hydraulic power packs and advanced test rigs.

The primary focus of the role will be the design, build and validation of production and development electro-hydraulic test rigs.

The successful candidate will be expected to take ownership of this process: gathering requirements, proposing designs, designing electrical and mechanical assemblies, assembling, testing and maintaining these rigs. The candidate will be expected to show an ability to grow the role including project management of external suppliers as an alternative to in house design based on the established requirements, as well as the potential to manage others within the business as part of delivering the test systems required by the business.

Essential requirements:

5 or more years industry experience.
Degree level education in Electrical Engineering or another appropriate subject.
Design, build and validation of electrical systems for machines / test rigs to IEC EN 60204.
Design of basic mechanical parts e.g. frames, enclosures.
Requirements capture and working with stakeholders to ensure proposed design is fit for purpose.
Good written and oral communication and presentation skills.
Motivated and professional personality. Beneficial requirements:

Experience with hydro-electric systems e.g. pump, servo valves.
Electronics schematic capture and PCB design.
Software development in Python or other languages.
Broad understanding of related engineering subjects. Key responsibilities:

Work with the other teams in the business to establish the requirements for production and prototype test equipment.
Design, procure, assemble, test and deliver this test equipment.
Work with the product validation team to define and implement test processes using this test equipment.
Working with external suppliers to outsource the design and manufacture of this test equipment as appropriate.
Assist in the development, test and maintenance of electronic hardware and software products which provide production and development testing of the products
Supporting development & production teams in identifying & investigation of faults and proposing solutions for existing and new products.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver world leading products. Additional responsibilities:

Design, prototype, build and source cable assemblies and other electrical assemblies which form part of the test equipment or our products.
Assist your peer's development towards best working practice for electrical design.
Take part in peer review processes to ensure the quality of the department's work is maintained.

This is a full time permanent position with a salary of £40,000-£45,000 with a great benefits package including a 9 day fortnight and flexible working hours.

The role will be split between their head office in Central Bristol and their Production facility in Pucklechurch.
