Overview:

We are seeking a design engineer to produce detailed engineering drawings both from scratch and modifying existing drawings both 2D and 3D. They should be able to undertake mechanical design of original special purpose security construction systems and assist in the specification and design of surrounding systems, such as pneumatics, hydraulics, electro mechanical components etc.

The Mechanical Design Engineer may:

* Be required to visit current and prospective customers, to receive enquiries and requests for quotation, or to assist with the installation and commissioning of completed equipment.

* Be expected to take a project leadership or coordination role on appropriate tasks, including communication with and selection of suppliers.

* Ensure that the procurement of parts and components meets the specifications and conforms with the engineering drawings.

Essential Skills and Experience required:

* Mechanical Engineering qualification or equivalent

* Create CAD manufacturing drawings

* Work with 3D Solidworks (other CAD systems considered), BoM's, parts and assemblies for manufacture, testing, installation and commissioning

* At least three year’s experience of mechanical design role (plus an understanding of hydraulics and steel fabrication design) in business

* Understand materials, assembly processes and manufacturing

* Organised with attention to detail, able to plan projects, manage multiple tasks and time productively

* Strong communication skills and be confident liaising with customers and colleagues.

* Understand project costings and budgets

* Source and procure components to specification and budget

Ideal Experience:

* Producing hydraulic and pneumatic schematic drawings

* Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

* Producing layout concept drawings

* Producing manuals and technical documentation

* Site visits to measure up for new projects
