Job Type : Permanent, Full Time

Salary : £28000 – £32000/annum

Job Summary:

The role is an integral part of a small team of design engineers responsible for designing and detailing a range of tipper trailers and bodies to ensure accurate, detailed drawing packs are issued to production.

Main Tasks / Responsibilities / Authorities:

Production of all drawings and designs supporting the production of new trailers and bodies

Production of Bills of Materials

Working to a standard file system, maintaining this as new designs and variants are produced

Being involved and liaising with the workshop to understand the production processes involved

Updating of necessary schedules and vehicle packs

Providing full drawing packs to the cutting shop and workshops including design intent with appropriate dimensioning for tooling set up

Producing technical documentation to facilitate legal compliance of completed products

General office team duties inc. holiday and absence cover where necessary

Two-way interface, updating and working effectively with the Wisbech Engineering team to always ensure adoption of best practices across both brands

Any other duties that may be reasonably requested by the manager.

Skilled and effective in the use of Solidworks package

Able to demonstrate an organised way of working and excellent problem-solving skills

Strong team, relationship building and interpersonal skills

Required qualifications, knowledge & experience:

Education / Professional Qualifications required for the position:

Certified Solidworks user

Certified Solidworks Sheet Metal user

HNC in Mechanical Engineering

Knowledge and Experience:

Experience of using Solidworks, Autodesk or Solidedge for sheet metal and weldment features

3D modelling

Mechanical reasoning to envisage how the design comes together and functions

Ability to accurately measure existing products

Understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics with the ability to produce and/or alter schematics

Good written and oral communication skills, problem solving abilities, ability to work and make decisions under pressure, time management skills, computer literacy, people person, ability to work as part of a team

Theoretical knowledge or experience of FEA software

Additional desirable requirements:

Fabrication and welding experience
