Design Assistant
Job Type : Permanent, Full Time
Salary : £22000 – £28000/annum Health/life/pension + hybrid
Established international clothing manufacturer is recruiting for Design Assistant for their London office . This is a great opportunity for a graduate with ideally 12months+ commercial experience to be part of a dedicated menswear team. You will work closely with the Head of Casualwear to create Menswear collections targeting multiple retailers in the UK and Europe.
Design Assistant – The Job Outline
* Ensuring all samples and packs are ready in time to be couriered.
* Dealing with incoming mail and parcels
* Arranging swatch packs ensuring that selections are collated and edited in accordance with the customer brief.
* Updating cribs and final sketches for the factory and the commercial team.
* Ordering fabrics, matching Pantones and chasing mills/factories to produce samples to meet deadlines.
* Updating prices crib with correct component information, ensuring accuracy for costings
* Sending out new fabric briefs to suppliers and chasing in readiness for meetings
* Counter-sourcing fabrics and trims to price
* Researching and identifying the latest key trends to inspire and develop new garments/ranges.
Design Assistant – Candidate Skills and Requirements
* A degree or qualifications relevant to apparel design
* Previous experience of working as a Design Assistant/Assistant Designer or similar, and preferably mens multiproduct or casualwear
* Passion for menswear is essential!
* Advanced Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop skills are essential
* Experience of Print Design
* CLO 3D software experience preferred
* Product Development skills
* Strong technical and creative design skills
* Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication skills
* A confident, proactive approach capable of working effectively in a team under pressure in a demanding fast paced environment
