Brook Street is delighted to present the opportunity to work for one of the UK's leading suppliers of high performance materials for the marine and leisure industries. Our client has been established for over 25 years and prides themselves on being the first point of call for customers and clients that need outdoor and technical fabrics.

Our client is looking for an assistant/Trainee CAD Operator who will be given an invaluable opportunity to train in CAD design and operating a purpose built 6 metre long CNC flatbed cutting table to produce high quality, precision fabrics for various uses in the company's target sectors including custom sails for the marine industry. This company are continuously innovating so you will have opportunities to learn modern techniques and the skillset is very sought after.

About the role:

The Trainee CAD/CNC Operator role will be learning under the support of the current CAD/CNC Technician and when required will support the warehouse team with various ad-hoc duties. At the start of the role, the position will be about a 50/50 split between CAD/Production and Warehouse support, however as you learn and develop the role will become more and more focussed on the CAD Design and Production.

You will be:

Producing CAD drawings for production
Learning to use a wide range of CAD software to produce CAD designs and patterns from client's patterns and designs
Quoting/order input.
Utilising photogrammetry equipment to create bespoke digital designs.
Picking fabrics for production from the warehouse, sometimes with use of a forklift (training will be provided).
Some manual lifting of fabrics
Monitoring and checking quality of fabrics ahead of production to ensure highest quality.
Operating CNC flatbed to produce finished fabrics for clients, with a focus on problem solving
Packaging finished product kits for dispatch to clients
Supporting the warehouse team with adhoc duties when not required in production.

You will be available to work from 8.30am – 5pm, Monday – Friday.

Who we are looking for:

Whilst no specific experience is required for this position, a background working within a warehouse or production environment will be beneficial and an interest or previous experience with CAD software is key (possibly self-taught).

Additionally you will be / possess:

Experience working with CAD in work or as a hobby, with a passion for design
Enthusiastic and personable with a positive, confident and determined approach
Process driven with high attention to detail
Very organised and good problem solving skills
Willing to help in other areas of the business including warehouse
Strong communication skills
Physically fit and able.
