INK TECHNICIAN – ALDERSHOT – £25K -£30K

As an Ink Technician, your primary role will be to ensure the printers have pantone matched, ready-made ink to complete their daily tasks across multiple print departments. You will be tasked with implementing new and innovative solutions to create a seamless inks and solvents experience for the printing departments so that downtime is dramatically reduced through prior pantone testing. You will assist in overseeing the cleanliness of the department and that consumables and inks are ordered and stored in a timely manner. Senior management will look to you to reduce waste and cut costs through better buying of inks and expect you to engage with suppliers to discuss new potential inks and consumables that will increase productivity and reduce costs.
What you’ll be doing:
* Colour matches & rematches
* Manufacture ink batches for print jobs in accordance with the production scheduler
* Implement procedures for testing pantone matches prior to print
* Implement quality control procedures
* Reordering of consumables and inks to ensure we have stock at all times
* Test all ink batches prior to print
* Attend production meetings
* Ensure the inks department is kept clean and tidy
* Ensure all inks and solvents are locked away in cupboards
* Ensure all inks and solvents are ready for the morning shift
* Continuous improvement of department
* Maintaining accurate ink recipes on relative portals
* Labelling and storing of inks and solvents
* Liaise with ink suppliers on best inks to use for new products
* Create a good relationship with current and new ink and consumable suppliers
* Liaise and meet with ink suppliers to reduce costs on current inks and consumables
* Provide technical guidance when needed
* Test new inks
* Distribute and log bottles of thinners, IPA and general purpose cleaner (G.P) and any other solvents required
* Collect and replenish printers thinners, IPA, General purpose cleaner (G.P) and any other solvents required towards the end of the shift in readiness for morning shift
* Ensure Health and Safety aspects of the department are being carried out
* Liaise with R&D department on projects relating to inks and adhesives
* Testing inks on products and reporting
