Overview

Our Leicestershire based clients require an experienced Mid Weight – Senior Development Designer to join their team on a full time/permanent basis.

Working with internals teams to understand the clients requirements/brand and creating development solutions that are innovative, on brand, functional, sustainable, cost-effective, and manufacturable.

The Role & Responsibilities

* Working directly with the client/retailers to understand the brand and their consumers

* Presenting design development proposals and working with client on solutions.

* Working directly with the commercial teams at collaborative meetings to consider Design for Sustainability, Design for Value, Design for Manufacturing and Design for Retail principles.

* Identifying appropriate and cost-effective materials and processes

* Producing Design Intent drawings for the internal development teams

* Creating planogram or value-engineered presentations using a variety of techniques that include technical illustrations and 3d SolidWorks

* Staying abreast of industry, market and material trends through

* Participating in Team meetings or any other BU meetings.

* Training/assisting more junior members of the team as required.

Skills

* Minimum of 5 years experience

* Proficient in Solidworks 3D

* Strong knowledge of a variety of materials and manufacturing processes

* Able to clearly communicate with both internal teams and externally with clients

* Able to work effectively and innovatively providing designs with minimal direction

* Has a good previous understanding/knowledge of retail environments, brand marketing and manufacturing processes

* Works/collaborates with Sales and Client assisting in delivering presentations and ideas

* Problem solver – good instincts

* Has enhanced creativity, innovative thought, ideation, and presentation techniques.

* Team player – Strong participant in internal team meetings

* Supports junior level designers, delegating, and training where required
