We are excited to be recruiting an experience Deputy Chief Electrician (LX) for our wonderful Edinburgh Playhouse! You will be joining the Playhouse at an exciting time in its development as we strengthen our technical team and plan several venue improvements projects over the coming years. As Deputy Chief Electrician you will play a key role in ensuring our standards of presentation, both on stage and in the rest of the building, are exemplary.
You will be expected to have extensive management experience to lead, develop and grow a technical team with many years of experience. You will work closely with colleagues in Staging, building maintenance and FOH operations. You will be expected to have advanced skills in Audio and Video with at least a good working knowledge of Lighting.
This position reports to the Chief Electrician and Technical Manager, and to the Theatre Manager and Theatre Director where appropriate. You’ll be responsible for the Electrical Department’s casual team.
The role is offered on an annualised hours (buy-out) basis, meaning that working hours may vary throughout the year and payment for any premium hours, such as get outs, are all included in the annual salary.
Overall purpose of this role:
* Assist Chief Electrician and lead the Electrical team in absence of Chief Electrician.
* Ensure safe and effective building/construction/rigging and day to day running of visiting shows and building operations.
* Assist with building and technical projects, and to ensure a high standard of day-to-day building maintenance BOH, FOH and in Auditorium
* Help ensure visiting shows and contractors have a positive experience when visiting the Edinburgh Playhouse.
* Assist and work with other managers in ensuring a cohesive, efficient, cost-effective, and robust technical department.
* Assist Technical Team with premises and operational safety for back of house and the auditorium and to complete tasks as delegated.
