We are excited to be recruiting an experienced Head of Stage for our wonderful Edinburgh Playhouse! You will be joining the Playhouse at an exciting time in its development as we strengthen our technical team and plan several venue improvements projects over the coming years. As Head of Stage, you will play a key role in ensuring our standards of presentation, both on stage and in the rest of the building, are exemplary. You will also have an opportunity to develop our backstage operations and will be leading a team with many years of experience, who are skilled at what they do, but who are also willing to adopt new ideas and practices.

This position reports to the Technical Manager/Deputy Technical Manager, and where appropriate the Theatre Manager and Theatre Director. The Head of Stage is responsible for the Stage department, including the Deputy Head of Stage and casual staff.

You will be expected to have extensive management experience to lead, develop and grow a technical team with many years of experience. You will work closely with colleagues in Lighting/Sound/Video, building maintenance and FOH operations. You will be expected to have advanced skills in Counterweight flying, rigging and stage engineering.

The role is offered on an annualised hours basis, meaning that working hours may vary throughout the year and payment for premium hours, such as get outs, are included in the annual salary.
