Our client is based in Cheddar, Somerset within easy reach of Bristol, Bath and the M5. They specialise in the design, manufacture and installation of fine fitted furniture and architectural joinery.

They are leaders in our field with commissions taking us into some of England's finest period homes as well as grand buildings of architectural significance abroad. Role

The creation of the Lead Interior Designer role reflects an increasing demand from clients for our client to take control of the whole look and feel of a room or house. Interior design, offered as part of our expertise in joinery led interiors, is an area of growth within the company so there is plenty of potential to progress a career here.

We are looking for an experienced and driven leader ambitious to maximise the commercial and creative potential of this area of the business.

The role will involve managing the interior design function with one direct report and coordinating with the Creative Director and other departments. The role will be client facing.

An appreciation of historic interiors is vital as this knowledge can help inform the approach to the client's brief.

Requirements:

10 years interior design experience

Natural interest in traditional English architecture of all periods.

Candidates should have degree level qualifications in design.

Need to have the skills and confidence to develop interior schemes including space planning.

Project management experience

AutoCAD skills with excellent knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, Microsoft Office, and SketchUp

Knowledge of FF&E sourcing

Have a full understanding of project processes from concept, design development through to site implementation.

Knowledge, appreciation and experience of sourcing fine quality antique furniture, textiles, lighting and artwork

Experience in collaborating with other artisans such as stone masons, fibrous plaster specialists, upholsterers, decorative painters, metal workers etc.

Understanding of modern and traditional building techniques and practices

Experienced in interior architectural space planning of room layouts as well as fitted and freestanding furniture.

Experience using photoshop and some graphic design capability like using InDesign is desirable.

Microsoft office products are used throughout the company.

Personal qualities

Have an excellent eye for detail and a can-do attitude.

You must be able to manage a varying workload across multiple projects to meet client deadlines.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Creative, enthusiastic, and passionate about exceptional design.

Job Type: Full-time. Will involve travel at home and abroad. Hybrid working.
