Overview
Our Leicester based clients require a Junior – Mid Weight Development Designer to join them on a full time and permanent basis.
The successful candidate must have experience in the Retail POS sector and can demonstrate a good understanding of Retail environments, brand marketing and manufacturing.
They will work to create development proposals that are innovative, on brand, functional, sustainable, cost-effective, and manufacturable.
The successful candidate will need good communication skills as they part of their role will include client meetings/presentations both in the UK and occasionally Europe.
Responsibilities
* Working directly with the client and retailers to better understand the brand and consumer behaviour as it relates to the design request.
* Consulting with team members to establish and evaluate assignment requests and deliverables at initial briefing.
* Presenting their design development proposals (Some elements of 2D Planogram Presentations with majority 3D engineering / Build Intent proposals) and working with client towards next step solutions.
* Working directly with the commercial team to establish ways in which to innovate by considering Design for Sustainability, Design for Value, Design for Manufacturing and Design for Retail principles.
* Identifying appropriate and cost-effective materials and processes and developing solutions that are manufacturable and on brand
* Producing Design Intent drawings for the internal development teams
* Ensuring format of deliverables and quality of presentations are in line with Company standards
The Candidate
* Must have good experience of using Solidworks
* Hold a College or University degree/diploma in product design or similar
* Sound knowledge of Design Software, Internet Software, Presentation Software, Spreadsheet Software, and Database Software. Capable of preparing drawings, illustrations, renderings, presentations or rough sketches
* Good Judgment and problem solving skills using logic and reasoning to identify alternate solutions
* Good Time Management Skills
* Able to read and interpret documents such as design briefs, safety rules, and procedure manuals
* Excellent communication skills, written, verbally and in person
* Able to explain development designs in detail both internally and externally
* Enthusiastic, keen to learn and progress
