The company
The company are a family-owned Automation process builder for a variety of key industries, working for some of the largest organisations in the world. With a relocation to another nearby site, the company are continuing to grow and looking to add to the team following the recent acquisition of a major new contract.
The role
Reporting into the Director of Operations, the company are now searching for an experienced Project Manager to join the company and look after some key projects for them on a 6 month initial contract.
You will take responsibility for:
Manage the project from start to finish, ensuring successful completion and within the relevant targets. Both profit and time scale related.
Ensure excellent communication between internal and external stakeholders is maintained at all times. With external stakeholders ensure their satisfaction with the project timelines.
Read and understand technical and commercial contract requirements, ensuring their fulfilment.
Have sight of project contracts and understand the technical and commercial aspects of the contract requirements, making sure that all aspects of the project are completed on time and to a satisfactory level.
Provide initial cash flow predictions and then take overall responsibility for the financial aspects of the projects. Preparing reports where necessary for Senior Management.
Look after the purchasing for the project and creating specifications for multiple suppliers, whilst maintain oversight of the project status for senior management.
Proactively identify and deal with any issues that may arise jeopardising the project
What you need
It is ESSENTIAL for the successful candidate to have the following:
Experience working in a Project Manager capacity preferably in a Heavy Engineering setting
Knowledge and/or experience of Earned Value Analysis for project progress monitoring
Strong understanding of engineering principles related to structural steel fabrication, combustion & gas systems, refractory and thermal insulation, thermal engineering, hydraulics, pneumatics, piped water systems and fans
Familiarity with specifying and purchasing medium to high value equipment
Other DESIRABLE skills include:
Experience working in a Forge or Furnace environment.
Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project. (Auto Cad and Inventor would be a bonus)
Excellent communication, leadership, and negotiation skills
Ability to work unsupervised and handle multiple tasks at once and sticking to deadlines
Familiarity with ISO QMS systems
