Design Coordinator required to join a pioneering net zero developer based in their purpose-built office near Leeds Dock just on the outskirts of the city centre of Leeds.

Our client are a young company whose purpose is to accelerate the transition to zero carbon cities, they are committed to playing a leading role by innovating in how they design and create future cities.

They started this journey over 15 years ago and in this time have picked up over 40 awards for design, sustainability, innovation and enterprise. The current chapter in their business will see them deliver over 1000 new homes, offices, restaurants and amenities in the region's city centres, which will create some of the most exciting and innovative developments in the UK.

They have developed their own housing system, established a factory to construct their buildings in, operate their own construction teams, carry out sales and lettings directly and have technical and design functions as part of our team.

The finished product combines stunning Scandinavian design with the latest sustainable technology to create beautiful homes that will radically reduce your carbon footprint. They are not just your ordinary developer, they also act as contractor and designer, they are a fully integrated business, from buying the land to selling the houses, they do everything in between.

Your mission is to support the internal design team, namely the Design Manager/ Design Co-ordinator, to deliver amazing places by coordinating and responding to site queries (RFIs), managing variations and recording non-compliance from drawings (NCRs) to help ensure compliance to vision, design and regulations. You will become the design link between live project sites and the design team function in the office.

Roles & Responsibilities of the Design Coordinator

Previous experience in a design focused environment.
Good working knowledge of architectural design principles
Understanding of the principles behind key construction details
Appreciation of cost and value regarding design and construction
Awareness of design output requirements across RIBA stages 3-5
Willingness to question received wisdom, and an openness to being corrected
Ability to commit and work to a plan, prioritising appropriately to deliver on promises
Awareness of UK Building Regulations
Awareness of Passive House Principles and a fabric first approach
CAD experience
Willingness to train and develop and work as part of a team

Nice to have skills of the Design Coordinator

Revit experience
Base understanding of building services and site wide design
Knowledge of the Planning process

Required Experience & Qualifications of the Design Coordinator

An Architectural Design background within either an Architectural Practice, House Builder or main contracting background.
The ability to be the design link between live project sites and the design team in the office.
Excellent understanding of UK Building Regulations and management of building control approvals and compliance.
Recognised Architectural / Design qualification and UK based work experience.

Hours and environment

Our client operate a flexible working policy for this role where it is expected that everyone meets or exceeds their objectives, but they aren't prescriptive about times or days worked as long as the results are being achieved.

Suitable candidates will be welcomed into a new purpose built new office near Leeds Dock giving a great place for collaborative working, which was designed and built by our client.

Salary £30,000 – £40,000+ Unlimited capped holidays, quarterly performance bonus, 3% pension.
