Platform Resourcing are currently working with a leading Global Manufacturing Company who are looking to expand their team by taking on a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of new and existing products, as well as liaising with internal, external suppliers and customers to ensure designs are fit for manufacture and purpose.
Design Engineer Benefits:
Salary of up between £32,000 and £36,000 dependent on experience
Hours – Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 4.30pm with a 4.00pm finish every Friday

Overtime – paid at time and a halfDuties and Responsibilities:
Use 3D and 2D CAD software to Design and develop new and existing products
Establishing customer design requirements
Liaison with internal and external customers to ensure designs are fit for manufacture and purpose
Making amendments and adjustments when required
Ensure cost effective components are developed
Creating and maintaining bills of materials
Maintain rationalization and suppress variety in the product ranges wherever appropriate
Keep up to date with new product developments and technologies
Use of stress analysis techniques to optimize component designEssential Experience:
Experience within a similar mechanical design role within manufacturing/ engineering environment
Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering based subject
Understanding of creating and maintaining Bills of Materials
Proven track record in design / drawing office activities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Good time management skills, able to prioritise your own workload
Good knowledge of Microsoft office suite software (e.g. Word, Excel, MS project, etc)Desirable but not essential:
Knowledge of Siemens NX CAD software, both solid modelling and Surfacing
Technical knowledge of knowledge of fluid piping systems would be advantageous
