CAD Operator (E&I)

The role of the CAD Operator. Based at our Capenhurst site, in the role, you will develop and maintain engineering drawings to support construction work packages and plant configuration control. (CE&I Background)

What will your day look like?

Data gathering and design development.

Carry out site surveys, liaise with vendors and complete document searches to support design development.
Drawing delivery in accordance with defined standards.

Create rules and standards for all drawing types (e.g. font size, colours, layers etc)
Use of standard templates and nomenclature.
Document numbering to follow the existing system philosophy.
Preparation of procurement specifications.

Complete material take-offs and obtain quotations to support project implementation.
Maintenance of Lifetime Quality Records
Update technical drawings, records and vendor documentation to reflect current plant status. (Significant number of E&I drawing currently redlined)
What do you need to be great at this role?

5 GCSEs including Math’s and English or relevant experience.
HNC (Engineering subject) with apprenticeship or equivalent practical training. Instrument & Electrical background is essential
Proficiency in relevant IT applications, in particular computer aided design systems (AutoCAD).
Practical experience of design and project office practices.

At least 2 years’ experience in a CAD operator role working in a manufacturing, petrochemical or process industry.
