INTRO
Fantastic opportiunity to join a Global Packaging company as a Creative Structural Packaging Designer.
You will deliver innovative packaging design that provides the organisation and its customers with first to market opportunities for new products. By utilising appropriate technologies and material developments to customer briefs, the main aim is to push boundaries – proactively driving forward our customers’ business, whilst remaining aware of the impacts on internal, external, and environmental constraints.
This will be a Hybrid role, with 3 days per week on site (Leicestershire) and 2 days working from home.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
* Experience within a carton packaging manufacturing environment
* Industrial Design Degree with 5-10 years professional experience
* Excellent Commercial awareness
* Computer skills including the use of Artios CAD, Esko Webcentre, adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Office & presentation packages.
* Experience with Sample cutting tables (ideally ZUND)
some experience of high-speed processing equipment and an understanding of the way that such machinery is designed would be beneficial.
* Good understanding of tooling design, Cut and Creasing process including blanking and complex gluing lines
* Flexibility to travel.
THE ROLE
* Lead with design projects as requested by customers.
* Support the creative design team from a structural design perspective, turning creativity into reality – forming a bridge between different stages of the design process.
* Liaise with all aspects of production to ensure cartons are designed to the most efficient format.
* Keep abreast of the latest packaging and machinery trends.
* Develop first to market packaging innovation based on production capability.
* Monitor the market and report on trends or developments that could offer commercial opportunities to the group.
* Engage in and develop working relationships with selected customers leading to innovation in packaging design.
* Explore and make recommendations on technical advances within the overall remit of the role.
* Have an excellent working knowledge of ArtiosCAD.
* Understand production capabilities of all sites – internal as well as customer sites
