About the Role:
Teaching Personnel, a leading education recruitment agency based in Liverpool, is currently seeking an experienced and highly organized Art and Design Technology Technician for a well-regarded secondary school on the Wirral. This role is ideal for a technically skilled professional with a background in Design and Technology, particularly in handling and maintaining workshop machinery. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring that practical sessions run smoothly and safely, supporting teachers and students in creating an engaging, hands-on learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Workshop and Machinery Support: Assist in the setup, operation, and maintenance of Design and Technology machinery, including CNC machines, laser cutters, 3D printers, and other specialist equipment.
Health and Safety Management: Conduct regular safety checks, manage risk assessments, and ensure that all workshop areas meet health and safety standards.
Lesson Preparation and Support: Prepare materials, tools, and equipment for lessons, ensuring all resources are available and ready for practical classes.
Stock and Resource Management: Monitor, order, and organize resources and consumables, ensuring that materials are effectively managed and replenished when necessary.
Technical Assistance for Students and Staff: Work closely with teaching staff to support student learning during practical lessons, providing guidance and technical assistance when needed.
General Workshop Upkeep: Keep the workshop area clean, organized, and well-maintained to create an efficient and safe working environment.
Requirements:
Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within an educational setting or a practical workshop environment.
Proficiency in operating and maintaining a variety of design technology equipment, particularly machinery such as laser cutters, 3D printers, and CNC equipment.
Strong understanding of health and safety procedures, particularly in a workshop or design technology setting.
Excellent organizational skills and a proactive approach to managing resources.
Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students, with a strong commitment to supporting a safe and engaging learning experience.
Desirable Skills:
Relevant qualifications in Design and Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience working in a school or educational setting.
Familiarity with digital design software (e.g., CAD) is a plus.
