Joinery Design Coordinator
We currently have an opportunity for a talented Joinery Design Co-Ordinator to join our team in the manufacture of high-end joinery.
This will be a role working closely with the Joinery Manager to ensure projects are run efficiently and effectively.
As the senior representative of the design team, you will enable a smooth design development phase by controlling the process through setting standard details, control of drawing status coordination, creating and populating information trackers shared externally and internally and managing procurement and tracking of joinery components.
The role also provides an important link to enable an open channel of communication and RFI between factory/site and the design team during the manufacturing stage and subsequent installation phase.
Main Responsibilities:
* Attend design workshop meetings
* Attend site surveys
* Management of any junior design team members assigned to you
* Produce quality shop drawings compliant with client intent and building standards
* Assisting with pre-production administration including updating trackers, collating information and materials for production of samples for client approval and procurement of materials
* In charge of agreeing standard details at the project start and checking that the design team are compliant before handing over the drawings to the Joinery Manager for final review
* Research and provide information for specification changes or solutions to client intent for Joinery Manager to sign off
* Initial review client comments and report design time/cost variations to Joinery Manager
* Provide commentary on shop drawings to the factory RFI’s
* Provide installation guidance and be point of contact for site should they require more information on finishing details
* Provide technical guidance on joinery components to the internal team and liaise with suppliers to receive and incorporate technical data into our designs
* Coordinate logistics for externally finished joinery components e.g. metal finishing
* Coordinate joinery components issued to factory or site separately e.g. ironmongery
Administration
* Communicating with suppliers for technical support and/or samples
* Liaise with suppliers to keep track of requested samples and orders
* Take off and populate ironmongery, sample and components schedules
* Compile quotations for components and ironmongery for purchase
* Track delivery of components and ironmongery
* Gather information on lead times for components such as wallpapers, fabrics, ironmongery etc.
* Collate information and create O&M manual drafts for Joinery Manager sign off
Skills and Abilities
* Excellent communication with project stakeholders
* Extensive knowledge of joinery design and fabrication processes
* Ability to effectively communicate design ideas
* Effectively manage time in order to keep on top of promised deadlines
* Team management
* Confident oral and written skills
* Forward planning to avoid programme failures
* Site survey
* Full UK driving license
