Associate Director – Architecture

Salary : £55000/annum Bonus + potential future equity stake
Associate Director of Architecture required to join a Leeds based nationally recognised, future focussed Architectural Practice offering award-winning cross sector building design services.
With modern established studios in Leeds and Loughborough, our client has more than 45 years' experience creating many types of buildings across a diverse range of sectors.
They undertake projects throughout the UK, ranging from commercial refurbishments to multi-million-pound new-build projects and ground-breaking regeneration schemes. Their cross-sector experience includes the areas of Learning, Retail, Commercial, Living, Regeneration, Industrial, Sport & Leisure, Transport and Faith-related projects.
Their core architecture business is supported by specialist in-house services, including Masterplanning, Access Consulting, Listed Building Advice, Graphics & Visualisation, Party Wall Surveying, Health & Safety Management, Principal Designer, Interiors, and Project Management.
The team comprises over 30 architects, interior designers, technicians and masterplanners, the management structure consists of four Directors, supported by two Regional Directors. With a strong and respected brand, a financially robust business, a healthy project pipeline, and a strategy to invest in exceptional talent, our client are a company that is built for the future.
They are now looking to bolster their Senior Management team with the strategic addition of an Associate Director, this significant opportunity is suitable for both senior level ARB / RIBA affiliated Architects or MCIAT Chartered Architectural Technologists.
Key responsibilities for the Associate Director
*Develop and implement detailed sector specific operating plans in order to deliver the revenue growth and profitability targets set out in our Strategic Plan.
*Manage overall sector-based budgets on a monthly basis in line with the business plan targets.
*Review the annual business plan and define specific strategic goals to achieve given targets within area of expertise.
*Develop and implement a New Business Development process in order to generate new business and therefore profitable revenue growth.
*Scope, plan and negotiate the pricing of all projects in line with our project management process and pricing policies in order to deliver the company and sector revenue profitability targets as set out in both the strategic and operational plans.
*Allocate and manage project resources ensuring the right staff are allocated to all projects in terms of skill levels and cost and that project cost is controlled and profitability optimised.
*Manage client relationships and expectations in order to ensure high levels of client satisfaction. This should include maintenance of all client contact information within the company client database and the implementation of the client feedback / evaluation process.
*Comply with all financial management processes in terms of timely project billing and fee collection in order to maintain company cashflow.
*Continue the development of architectural knowledge, design quality and sustainability within the practice by implementing and managing key processes such as the Design Champions process and the Technical Development process.
*Develop and build personal client networks and reputation through attendance at industry networking events, contribution of articles to industry press titles and submission of awards in order to support and deliver revenue growth targets.
*Carry out Continual Professional Development (cpd) to maintain a professional service and competence in areas relevant to professional work and discharge the requirements of any engagement with commensurate knowledge and attention.
*Monitor the progress of and ensure the professional development of junior members of staff by providing objective advice through regular one to one meetings.

*Technically competent designer who has successfully managed a number of projects from inception to completion demonstrating an ability to interpret ideas and convert them into working drawings to build.
*Ability to think strategically across the industry and review new opportunities and sector drivers
*Ability to manage sector-based budgets and resource to deliver profitable projects in line with the business plan
*IT literate in terms of all current computer packages and presentation software, REVIT & AutoCAD.
*Excellent illustration and presentation skills
*Effective Communicator who can be clear and concise with a wide range of stakeholders
Education / qualifications / Personal Development
*A member of the RIBA or MCIAT
*Registered with the Architects Registration Board (ARB) or Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT)
*RIBA Part III, Degree in Architectural Technology or other relevant architectural qualifications
*Proven Industry wide relationships and connections
Salary & Benefits
Negotiable in the region of £55,000 per annum + 5% performance related bonus & the option of potential future equity stake.
