PQ Specialist- Design & Engineering

Currently recruiting for a PQ Specialist – Design & Engineering for a large automotive client.
The role will involve:
Responsibility within the Design Studio for upstream exterior & interior Design Quality development. Includes engineering & manufacturing collaboration from concept to model freeze
Identify, develop and implement countermeasures that resolve design & product quality concern items
Collaboration with Product Planning functions regarding vehicle specifications that influence the level of all aspects of Perceived Quality
Ability to interrogate, understand and implement the voice of the customer as well as future customer forecasting
Research and analyse competitive trends and consumer/market trends
Value analysis and adherence to budget management targets
Ownership of digital & physical vehicle evaluations to identify potential Design Quality concerns for all aspects of vehicle construction, materials or usability
Lead the Design Quality proposal development from ideation to production levels
Define the material / part appearance specifications and documentation to deliver Design Intent
Engineering concept sheet evaluations to validate robustness of Design Intent for styling proposals
Variation control (gap/flush) development and co-approval throughout the whole development process
Attend and support or lead project meetings to ensure understanding that the project direction is clear & communicating with internal / external stakeholders where necessary
Qualifications:
A degree in Industrial Design / Product Design or equivalent
Understanding of the principles of automotive development, manufacturing and vehicle assembly
Experience of a wide range of component design and feasibility analysis for the automotive industry
Experience within an automotive design studio environment is mandatory
Demonstrable experience of implementing a broad range of Perceived Quality aspects
An instinctive attention to the detail that influences a customer’s perception of automotive quality
Highly proactive and passionate about Design Quality
Strong visual presentation skills
Excellent creative thinking & problem solving
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to work cross-functionally with an efficient yet effective manner, across a range of audiences
Experience with implementing GD&T to influence Design, Engineering & Manufacturing mandatory
CAD & 3D visualisation skills Alias/V-Red mandatory. (Deltagen / NX desirable)
Tolerance analysis / digital simulation (Ansys VRXPERIENCE or equivalent desirable)
3D surface quality analysis (GOM Inspect or equivalent desirable)
