Senior Designer, Civil & Structural

Salary : £55 – £60/hour Outside IR35
A Senior Civil & Structural Designer is required to be involved on an 'on call' basis on projects supporting the Project Discipline Lead Engineer.
Projects will vary from Feasibility phase through Basic Design and FEED. Projects can be relevant to onshore/offshore oil/gas production facilities, with special focus on CCS and renewables production facilities.
The main responsibilities are:
-Undertake the competent design, 2D drafting and 3D modelling activities of civil, structural, build ing and HVAC works, in collaboration with responsible senior/principal/lead engineers, in accordance with Company procedures, standards and plans, and international standards and codes of practice.
-Liaise with other disciplines in the preparation of models and support requirements.
-Interface with civil designers and senior civil designers within other Company hubs in order to achieve and guarantee common design approaches, standards and procedures.
-Assist the responsible engineers with the preparation of MTOs, extracting quantities from applicable software, 2D drawings and 3D models.
-Assist in development of Company procedures, work instructions and standards for drafting and modelling.
Candidate must have broad experience of civil and structural 2D drafting and 3D modelling activities covering all aspects from foundations to steel structures, site preparation and earthworks, roads and buildings with an emphasis on the onshore oil and gas industry. Should also have a good understanding of geotechnical matters, with emphasis to soil improvement, and of architectural and building services (HVAC) design.
Experience on drainage design would be desired but not mandatory.
Should be proficient with major 2D and 3D drafting and modelling software such as AutoCAD (required), BricsCAD (required), SP3D (required), Revit (desired), and Tekla (desired). Proficient in the use of software for site preparation/earthworks such as Civil 3D or equivalent.
Ideally have worked on projects from Feasibility phase through Basic Design and FEED to Detailed Design and Construction.
Knowledge of standards would represent a significant advantage for this position.
Candidate must have a HNC/HND in Civil and Structural Engineering. EngTech or IEng ICE professional qualification an advantage, but not mandatory.
