Summary of role:

The Materials Administrator is responsible for the sourcing, development and production of trims and packaging for our client. The Materials Administrator will assist the Technical Manager and Design Team handling the trims, components, artwork and packaging development, assist in the research and organization of special projects, and locate and establish new trim suppliers. The Materials Administrator will work closely with the design team to ensure that expected quality standards are upheld from concept throughout production.

This maternity cover role will be split with 3 days a week focused on Materials development and the balance 2 days supporting the Technical Manager on additional project work or tasks as required

Key Objectives: 

Collaborate with Designers and Garment Technologists to source and select fit for purpose materials and packaging for each product

Assist the Designers to identify new materials concepts and trends in the marketplace

To ensure the functional and quality demands of their client materials are met from the product briefs throughout to production

Ensure that all new products, techniques and/or material combinations are Laboratory and/or Wear tested and adhere to their client quality standards

Responsible of maintaining the trim archive organisation
Act as the primary liaison between their client and the Suppliers to ensure that all related trim issues are understood and executable

Continuously build advanced expertise and network of industry contacts
Assist all involved departments for materials and packaging related activities

Supporting the Technical Manager will involve working on projects to support the business and the Product team. Providing support to the technical manager on all duties. As required

Key Requirements & Skills:

Educated to degree or similar qualification in Textile related discipline
Minimum 1 years experience in a similar role and/or business
Knowledge and understanding of technical apparel and sportswear a must have
Knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Outdoor and Travel activities is a benefit

Ability and willingness to travel within UK, EU and Asia if required
Self motivated and wanting to learn and develop skills and knowledge
Well organized and methodical approach to work, driven by attention to detail

Ability to work independently and within multiple teams
Effective communicator
Excellent Project management skills
Strong understanding of Microsoft office (excel, Word, Outlook), and Powerpoint
