As the curtain raiser to the Games, the Queen's Baton Relay will travel through all 72 nations and territories of the Commonwealth, engaging with local communities and young people whose personal stories will embody the Birmingham 2022 call to action of 'Let's take it on!' shining a spotlight on social issues.

We are looking to build a team of QBR Coordinators who will produce multimedia content that will bring to life stories of hope and achievement of young people across the Commonwealth, as well as celebrate the best of Birmingham and the West Midlands.

Working collaboratively in a team of content creators your skills and enthusiasm will complement and encourage one another to produce content across a range of media – from photography to written word to video and everything in between. In addition, digital skills will be needed to curate and publish content – from editing through to design and proofing.

Responsibilities

Content Development – International & Domestic Relays

Through the four main areas of responsibility outlined below, you will use your personal experience and content creation skills to bring the QBR to life online:

Relationship Management – engaging with individuals and organisations from partner organisations across the Commonwealth to build relationships and identify local stories that will form part of the relay's journey;
Storytelling – making, editing and curating digital content, you'll work with Batonbearers and Commonwealth Games Associations to tell their stories and to support those taking part in the QBR to celebrate their involvement;
Planning & Scheduling – as well as producing content for the relay, you'll support work to develop our master content plan that will form part of campaigns across the Games and contribute towards our wider community engagement activity;
Creativity – this is a role with the freedom to maximise and build on your skills, and to develop creative and artistic content for an international audience.All eight Creative Content Coordinators will also fulfil dual responsibilities within the wider QBR programme, supporting our work to plan and deliver the global journey.

Skills and Experience

Essential

Experience working in a content creation environment – either professionally, as a community creator or independently;
Experience making content across at least one of following areas: Writing/blogging, Digital Media, Content Creation, Film/Vlogging, Photography, Social Media, Storytelling;
Editing, proof-reading and/or publishing skills;Desirable

Enthusiasm and/or experience of at least one of the following: Live events, Logistics, People management (staff, volunteers, participants), Planning and coordination, Travel and tour services, Community engagement;
Knowledge of global issues, geography & the Commonwealth;
Experience engaging young people and audiences.Recruitment Process
