Job Type : Permanent, Contract, Temporary, Full Time

Salary : £35000 – £50000/annum

We are looking for a skilled and energetic person to manage our stage and art installation build workshop. You will lead a small dynamic team of designers, metal fabricators and LED & video techs to create spectacular stages and art installations that appear across the UK and internationally.

ROLE

You must be a confident leader, comfortable managing a team, mentoring other staff and able to adapt and react to changing circumstances with a calm and considered approach. The workshop manager will sit at the heart of our design studio and is a core member of the small team of directors, project managers and skilled makers. * Based at Lucid’s workshop near Sittingbourne, Kent

* Occasional travel and work on site within the UK and internationally

* Our standard workshop hours are Mon – Fri 0800 – 1800.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Managing a team of skilled fabricators

* Manage overall logistics and operational processes of projects in the workshop whilst maintaining an efficient workflow in line with budget and specs

* Liaising with project managers in terms of crewing, loading schedules and packing

* Make sure that all Health & Safety requirements are adhered to, ensuring safety of all persons in the workshop

* Regular liaison with the Senior Management Team, reporting on project fabrication progress and risks to schedule

* Support the build team in the delivery of major stage & art construction projects

* Lead by example, providing support and guidance to the workshop team

* Manage multiple project requirements, workshop scheduling and priorities

* Ordering and ensuring the smooth supply of materials

* Working with project managers to manage workflow and design details

* Consulting with project managers to check and approve construction methods, schedule and resource workshop build processes

* Keep up to date with new products, materials and processes

* Managing returning projects, hires, recycling and disposal

* Managing quality control

* Maintaining a tidy & organised working environment

* The role is hands on and you will lead others by example

* Contribute to company objectives in developing more sustainable practises

KNOWLEDGE

Min 4 years relevant experience of temporary installation construction project management and methods within related sectors (ie stage, art)

You will have worked for a major staging / temporary structure / construction or scenic build company or comparable organisation in a leadership role

A solid background in multidisciplinary fabrication and be adept at interpreting working drawings and briefs

An understanding of a wide range of relevant safety processes throughout project design and installation.

Trucking logistics & loading experience

A solid knowledge of the fabrication & construction of temporary structures or a transferable skillset

Understanding of H&S requirements for a workshop environment

Good knowledge of sustainable material sourcing and advising on the best methods of production to achieve overall business sustainability aim
