Product Designer Solidworks
Job Type : Permanent, Full Time
Salary : £35000 – £40000/annum + 26 days hols, great bens
Working for this rapidly expanding manufacturer, you will be responsible for Product Design and creating new ideas within the company.
As the Solidworks Product Designer you will be responsible for:
Product Development
Working alongside the sales team to identify new products and designs based upon customer needs.
Identify new ideas and concepts for new product development to drive the company portfolio forward.
Refine existing designs and ensure they are kept up to date.
Identify weaknesses in existing designs to ensure the product can operate at peak performance.
Generate quick sketch concepts for proposed products or developments.
Have a commercially aware mind set and conscious of timescales and pricing during development.
Have an awareness of design for mass manufacture DFM
Assessing the competitor market to produce comparative studies to help identify market gaps.
Bring in product samples for testing and review, produce reports of findings and recommendations.
Use Soildworks 3D CAD software to create manufacturing ready 3D models.
Use KeyShot to provide photorealistic renderings of products to aid the sales team.
Use Adobe creative suite to refine images to produce graphics that promote products in the best light.
Create technical drawings for manufacture.
Compile in depth product artwork sheets along with factory ready technical drawings for manufacture.
Creating reports for review and summarising meetings for distribution to the management team
Work under own initiative and proactive in time planning.
Undertake meetings with manufacturers and suppliers to facilitate the development and production
General office duties Graphics Crossover
Work with the team to Identify new trends in industry to keep the product style fresh with each life cycle.
Support the creation and development of product instructional documentation
Aid in the creation of product presentation pages with 3D renders and technical knowledge
Requesting cutting templates for new products
Help in the development of packaging solutions for products
Develop any new print designs or textures with the graphics team.
Generate quick renders of product styles when required.
Generate thumbnails of final products and keep existing ones up to date. The required skills for the Solidworks Product Designer:
Essential
Batchelor's Degree level qualified in a product design or similar.
Experience in a design role
Artistic and innovative flair
Excellent attention to detail
Commercial awareness
Good written and communication skills
Able to manage projects to a deadline
