The role you are applying for as Design Manager will be managing a team of hardworking, motivated, and passionate people to design environmental projects across a variety of habitats in the UK. Accountable for ensuring quality and consistency within the whole department projects delivered will include a variety of environmental enhancement projects from, river restoration, fish passage, ecological mitigation and wetland creation works from concept through to implementation.
Key measurables for the role
• Leading on maintaining a consistent and full programme of design project work.
• Consistent department delivery of high quality works with high levels of quality, assurance and compliance.
• Winning work with existing and new clients and improving diversification within the department.
• Mentoring and development of all staff within the department and their growth within the business.
• Leading on process functions of the business unit making improvements to the internal workings of the department.
• Follow HR processes / procedures in line management of Principle Env. Consultant and Project Manager.
Person specification
• 12-15 years of experience within the water / environmental sector.
• An experienced manager, mentor and leader
• Experience of managing and reporting on a diverse team within a SME or multinational organisation including project and programme managing a diverse range of ecological habitat, wetland and river design schemes.
• Knowledge of NEC contract management
• Experience in designing environmental solutions in the water environment.
• Experience bidding for and winning schemes of works in the environmental sector and on multiyear framework opportunities in the environmental sector.
• Experience of quality and assurance implementation and management in a growing department
• Experience in undertaking the role of principal designer under CDM 2015.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal communication and written skills.
